Trees of Mystery

Have you ever been to the “Tree of Mystery”. It is one of those wayside tourist attractions along highway 101. These are all rip-offs as far as I'm concerned. Trees of Mysteries is too. You pay a lot to walk their trails to see redwood tress, which you can see for free in the state and national parks right down the road. BUT, you should stop. Not for the trees, rather for the free little museum inside the gift shop. The lady who owns the park has been an avid collector of Native America artifacts and art. Some of her things are of questionable value but other things are remarkable. She's assembled much of them a museum at the rear of the gift shop.

This is a nice First Nations Mask. I really like First Nations things so I focused on this section while there. She all collected native things from all over North America though.

This is a pipe made from a mineral only found on Queen Charlotte Island. I suspect it is pretty valuable.

This is a chiefs rattle. If it is authentic, it is very valuable. I could never afford one of these, even if I could find one.

This little museum is worth the stop while passing by.
