On the way home to Northern Idaho I thought it would be fun to stop at the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks. Even though I've traveled the a lot while working, it has been a long time since I've visited the parks. Arriving I found out that the only campground open in the Grand Tetons National Park was Signal Mountain, all the others having been shut down for the season. And even in this campground, most of the sites had been closed off. I shared the campground with only a handful of other campers. And this campground was schedule to close in a few days also.
Yellowstone Campgrounds were also mostly closed, with only one at the south end, and Mammoth at the north end being the only ones open. It has been snowing there for the last few days, so while most of the roads were open, chains or 4x4 vehicles were required. The ranger I spoke to said I would probably be fine, since I had chains if I had a problem, but I decided not to chance it. I'd just visit Yellowstone some other time.

I was in The Grand Tetons for a few days and did manage to get some hiking in. The trail was in and out of snow most of the way. What an interesting time to be in the park. It had recently snowed, the leaves were still dropping, and the weather was on and off drizzle.
I even got to see some wildlife. The baby moose was laying down while it's mother foraged in the brush. Both of these pictures were taken from the main road in the park.
