Yachats

As I was driving south on 101 the other day, I ran out of steam at Yachats and decided to stop at the campground I stayed at last year.

There was just one other camper there the two nights I stayed. I really like Yachats.

They have this wonderful trail that goes all along the beach through town. All along it the water is crashing into the rocks just beside you, shooting up all kinds of spray. Then, at the end of the trail to the north, there is this continuous beach that goes for 6 or 7 miles to Waldport. Last year I road my mountain bike on the beach back and forth. I was so tired after riding. It is really hard work riding on the beach, sort of like going up hill all the time. I didn't ride it this time as the streams flowing into the ocean were considerably deeper. It made for great walking though, especially at night. Not a soul around. Just me and the ocean.

At the sound end of town, there was a sea gull convention on the spit formed by the river. I took quite a few pictures of the rocks in the sand there. Trying to be more like Art Wolfe.

I especially like this one. Weird Huh?

Just south of town, the ocean meets cliffs. In some places, like the Devils Punchbowl, the waves jet up cracks inland, making quite a thumping sound as they crash along.

Happy Birthday Michele!
I'm so blessed to have you as the #1 Daughter.
And such a great wife and mother too!
