Mystic Falls - Yellowstone

The next day, Saturday, I got up at the crack of dawn and made for the Norris campground near the middle of Yellowstone. Along the way I saw more elk and a grizzly. No pictures as there wasn't a safe place to stop with the motor home and trailer. I scored this wonderful campsite at Norris, next to the small Gibbon river with a resident bull bison. He was a little too far off for pictures, but fun to watch in the middle of the meadow. Like last year, everything was being shut down for the season, but I got to stay two nights there.

In the afternoon I hiked to Mystic Falls and an overlook of the Old Faithful area. The trail goes through the Biscuit Basin, a geyser pool area which always makes for some interesting photography.

Oh, the miracle of modern technology. I called my daughter, Christine, from the overlook to see if she could find out when Old Faithful would go off. Turns out they don't publish the times, but still, I called her on the phone! How cool is that!
