One of the main reasons for the trip to the Phoenix area was to attend some Mariner's spring training games. It is definitely a different feel watching them in spring training than at Safeco Field. Your much closer to the action for one. It's more like watching a minor league game except for the big name players. During the second game I was seating with the parents, wife and baby daughter of one of the Mariner's Pitchers, David Pauley. That was really enjoyable, especially watching their reactions while he was pitching. He did pretty good actually.
While at Lake Pleasant I did get several good desert hikes in. I didn't do anything too extreme as I wasn't sure how my body would react, but I managed just fine. Hiking in the desert is sort of like sailing. Most of the fun isn't in the destination but in the travel itself. The hikes I went on really didn't have destinations. It was a great adventure just to mossy along and exerience the desert.
