Around the Olympics

Last week, after visiting with friends and family in the Seattle area, I took the motor home around the Olympics, the mountains, not the games. I ended up staying at the South Beach Campground just above the ocean.

Since it was foggy on the coast, one day I want up to the Hoh Rainforest. It amazing just how dry everything was. The ranger I talked to said it was one of the driest years they have had ever.

Still though, the mosses, ferns, etc were stunning.

One of the days I tried my hand at fishing, even though the rangers said there was hardly any fish to be had. I did come across this little waterfall along the way.

South Beach was littered with dead and dying birds. There is some sort of epidemic going on that the scientist are trying to figure out. As of last week, they didn't know what it was.

This is South Beach. I loved how this stump managed to land upright. It looks like it belongs there. Thats my motor home off in the distance to the left.

From here I'm off to meet Gary and Martha in the Redwoods.
