This past year, most of my time has been spent in doing some major remodeling of our Renton House. I completely redid the upstairs except for the kitchen. The biggest changes were in the living room where I removed the picture window and replaced it with a triple panel sliding door, replaced the old dining room door, resurfaced the hardwood floors, and added ceiling lighting. The difference in the living room is rather amazing.

I know I did the door earlier, but I'm really proud of it. It's solid mahogany and weighs a ton. It was quite a challenge getting it installed after I finished it.
I stripped the upstairs bath to the studs and completely redid it, including new fixtures, cabinets and plumbing. I think the tile work came out especially well. I wish I had this bathroom now in the new Rose Lake house.

The old roof was completely shot. I decided to replace it with a more premium roof. It turned out much better than I expected. This is one of the few things I decided to contract out. There was just too many things on my plate and I wanted to get the house done before winter.

This is the "water feature" we added a few years ago with the help of my son-in-law, Stan. Lots of other things were done to the house, like painting everything, all new molding and doors, etc. The house went on the market just as the financial crisis hit. I was hoping to make some money from all the remodeling. Now I'll be lucky to just break even. The one good thing is that I seemed to have gotten a great deal on the new house at Rose Lake. Pictures of it will be part of a post in the near future, so stay tuned.
