Eric had quite the time trying to fly back East a few days before Christmas to be with Maureen and her family. He arrived at the airport around 8am. His flight finally departed around 7pm, which meant that he had to spend the night in Detroit before he could continue on. But he did make it.
Christine meanwhile was trying to get back to Seattle from Boise. All the flights to Seattle were canceled so she flew instead to Spokane and spent the night with Stan and Michele. Teresa an I picked her up the following morning and we all drove together to Seattle.
In Seattle, the city was in the grip of one of the worse snow storms for a decade or so. What a mess. The city fathers had decided not to salt the roads a few years back, and to leave about 3 inches of snow when blowing. Great for a normal winter storm but not this one. The city soon became grid locked with most everyone, including the local editorials, complaining. It is clear that they need to rethink their policy!
