I think we were pretty fortunate in viewing wildlife. On several of the bus rides we saw very little. On two of the rides we saw lots. Who knows why the big change day to day. Our second day, the day we rode bicycles to Wonder Lake was the best. We saw around 5 bears each direction for example. The following is a sample of what we saw:
I was riding up in the front of the bus and like everyone else was looking off to the right side of the bus at the the scenery down below in the valley when I happened to glance up the hill and there was this sheep, not 100 feet from the bus up a ravine. The bus driver had to back up some since we were well past it before he could stop.
We have to give special thanks to Melissa Arnot for some of these shots of animals. She gave Christine her older “point and shoot” camera with a 10x optical zoom.
There was a ranger by these bears making sure no one got close. He said they had just mated a few minutes before we got there. He also commented that it was very unusual that the male and female didn't chase the cub off. He was clearly going to stick by him momma.
