Jerry Johnson Hot Springs

While camping along the Lochsa River and ATV riding the Lolo Motorway, I couldn't resist hiking to the Jerry Johnson Hot Springs for an evening soak.

In all my years hiking, I've never seen a notice at a trailhead like this one. I didn't see any of these creatures along the trail.

This is the furthest pool. Most people don't make it to this one even though is is just a few tenths of a mile beyond the rest.

This is the largest pool. It sure felt good.

This is my favorite pool with the hot spring coming right out of the rock. It however flowed right into the river, so the pool was cold with only the top inch or so hot. I bet this is "the" spot when the river level goes down. I'm going to have to come back. I bet it is really something after the first snowfall.
