"Never Say Never" or "Gone to the Dogs"

Since my wife passed away several years ago, every once in a while I get asked if I think I'll ever get remarried or will I get a dog. My response usually is "Never Say Never", but I'm not looking for either. That changed a couple of weeks ago when some friends of my daughter came to visit and brought their dog. It was a small golden retriever. I thought that I would like a dog like that. A few days later I get on the internet to see if a similar one could be found in a shelter. I didn't want a purebred since sometimes they have health issues. Wouldn't you know, there was one that caught my eye. I called and all my criteria was there. There was only one slight problem. I live in Northern Idaho and the dog was at the shelter in Hurricane, UT. Hurricane is the town you pass through on the way to Zion National Park. We're talking southern Utah, just a few miles from the Arizona boarder. I was planning on going on a trip to Yellowstone. Why not skip that and go to Zion and Bryce Canyon, especially since I had to cut short my last trip in the area due to my gall bladder.

Here she is. I call her Molly. I think she is turning into the family dog of Northern Idaho. She's with the kids for a few days since I'm sick with the flu. Teresa and John have already taken her on some walks.

While at Zion I met an older couple. She was really taken with Molly. As we were talking, share our life stories, she looks at me and says something to the effect: Dogs are a lot easier than women and much less expensive. I'm still wondering where that comment came from.

Molly likes to sleep in my shower, until I turn the water on.

This is THE bridge to take picture from. Usually at dusk there is hardly any room to set up a tripod. This however was taken at 8am when I was on my way to Bryce Canyon.

Maybe 10 percent of the people visiting Zion go to the eastern side of the park. I'd like to spend some time hiking here.

Another view from the road on the eastern side.

Next Bryce Canyon. Like last time I took hundreds of pictures. It may take a while for me to go through them as I'm not even running at 5% capacity. I Hate Being Sick!!!@#$%^&
