What Is That In My Yard

I have this great view out my bedroom window. Most mornings I sit on the edge of the bed when I wake up and enjoy the scenery. I was doing this one morning recently when I notice what I thought was a large bird in the brush. It was really shaking the branches. Keep in mind that I didn't have my glasses on. Then I thought, there is not way those branches can support such a large bird. Upon closer examination, i.e., I put my glasses on, I saw that what I though was a bird, was the head of a moose.

I've seen deer close to the house, and elk tracks in the driveway by the garage. And I've seen lots of moose in the area. But this was a first. It was just a few feet from the porch.

He just kept munching his way along. In no hurry at all. All you see is his butt in this picture, but it gives you an idea of how close he was.

Finally, he just wandered off behind the house.
