Hiking Canfield Mtn

Just outside Coeur d'Alene Idaho is Canfield Mtn. There are miles of trails up there. Some are designated for non-motorized travel while others allow just about anything. My youngest daughter, Teresa, and her boyfriend, John, go there ofter for mountain biking. My other daughter, Christine, and I joined Teresa for a hike up one side.

This is a view of Hayden Lake from a saddle near the top. There was some snow on the ground but it was easy going. We used our Yak Tracks, basically tire chains for your boots.

It had not snowed in several days, but it has stayed below freezing the entire time. It made for some interesting snow crystals along the trail as we approached the summit.

I think we have started a new tradition. It seems that around Christmas, we get a hike or two in. Last year it was the Twin Falls near North Bend Idaho. This year we hiked Mineral Ridge and Canfield Mtn near Coeur d'Alene. It is hard hiking with these two beautiful women! Really, they are hard to keep up with when hiking. As well as being good looking, they are in great shape.
