In my last blog I commented how I bumped my leg and got this nice knot just above the ankle. All that blood eventually made its way down into my foot. Talk about painful! The bottom of the foot even got all black and blue. I'm just now getting to where I'm not limping. I still can't wear my boots due to the swelling. NUTS!
Onto more fun things. The weekend before Thanksgiving, my daughter Michele and I drove to Seattle for the baptism of the daughter of one of her best friends. The one on one time with her was especially enjoyable. Then on Sunday, I went to the baptism with my other daughter, Christine. More father-daughter bonding. It was great. I'm really blessed with such four wonderful kids.

The following week I decided to go and do some exploring in the motor home before Thanksgiving. First I went up to Port Townsend and camped on the beach by Point Wilson. The nights I was there two storms blew through. The motor home rocked the entire time. It felt like I was on the sailboat again. Maybe it was the weather, its been raining for many days, but the town was just about completely deserted. Most of the shops were open, but no one was in them. It seemed really strange.
From Port Townsend, I took the ferry to Whidbey Island and camped at the Deception Pass State Park. Again, almost no one was around. There were maybe 6 groups camped the the campground. I loved having all the beaches to myself. I parked the motor home sideways in the parking lot, not a problem since it was the only vehicle in the lot, and just enjoyed the day watch the weather, etc.
Next I went to the North Cascades National Park. My summers were spent there as a tour guide for Seattle City Light during college. That was before it became a national park. I was looking forward to seeing the visitors center. Silly me. It was closed for the winter. No one, and I mean no one, was around except for the few city light workers who maintain the dams. The park service did leave one campground open. I had to move fallen limbs and things off the road to get in. Needless to say, no other campers were there. The picture is of Pyramid Peak. Would you believe that I climbed it one summer while there? One of many actually. I really got the climbing bug during those summers. Hard not to with all the mountains out your door.

Once again, beautiful pictures. So glad you got to see some of your favorite haunts before winter really sets in. Can't wait to see you next week!
