When Gail passed away, almost two years ago, the kids and I decided we wanted to have some sort of memorial for her. We first approached the City of Renton. Gail used to like walking this one trail in their Gene Coulon Park. There are several memorial trees and plaques along it. In fact, one is for our neighbor who died as a young mother. Unfortunately, the city decided not to allow any more memorials along the trail. They offered to allow us to put one in one of the other city parks but that just didn't work for us. So nothing really happened.
When I bought the house in Rose Lake, Idaho, I wanted some sort of memorial here. Gail loved the three stone fountain we built in Renton, so a similar fountain here seemed appropriate. I decided on a single, taller stone fountain however. Symbolically is seems more appropriate. I've had the stone since I moved but had to wait for spring to build the fountain. This is the mountains of Northern Idaho afterall.
Our old 3 stone fountain in Renton
Thanks to all who helped in this effort. Gail's college room-mates, Lynn, Liz, Judy and Paula gave some money for a memorial which we used to purchase the pump, etc. Our friends, Chuck and Dianne helped me gather river rocks along the St Joe River. And our kids for their encouragement and labor in moving the stone from Renton to Rose Lake.

It is beautiful! I absolutely love it and can't wait to see it in person. Gail would be so honored.
