Meeting Maggie

I'm back at my home in Rose Lake, where it is snowing. It was so nice to get away from the below freezing weather for a while. It is unbelievable that I had over two weeks of sunny weather along the Southern Oregon Coast in mid-winter.

The trip home was pretty uneventful. My original thought was to head straight inland to I-5 and buzz straight to Seattle. I opted instead to drive up the coast for a day, and then do the I-5 route the rest of the way.

Yesterday after a couple of doctor's appointments (nothing noteworthy) in the morning I decided to just head to Idaho. The weather reports for today sounded like I would be in and out of snow showers if I drove home today. So after the appointments I buttoned up the motor home where I keep it in Renton and drove home to avoid driving in snow.

The highlight of the last couple of days though was meeting Maggie, my son's, girlfriend, Maureen's, mother. She flew out from the east coast for the weekend for a short visit. That's a good start at describing Maggie. Not many people would fly across the country for basically a one day visit. On second thought, a mother would, which is why I like her, she's obviously a great mother. Another good description is her stories. I especially liked her telling of how, when visiting Banff with her husband, she went hiking without him. She left him looking at the view to go look in a gift shop. He said he might go for a short hike. Anyway, she's in the store and notices folks heading out on a hike and joins them, thinking her husband was doing the same hike in front of her. So she's off on this 6 hour hike while her husband is back at the lodge worried about what might have happened to her. Her telling of the story is just great and had us all laughing the whole time.

I'm so pleased to see that Maureen comes from such a great family. Speaking of families, her family consists of 3 girls and 1 boy, like ours, her dad's an engineer, I'm an engineer, and her mom is a pediatric nurse who loves her job, Gail was a pediatric nurse who also loved what she did. Weird Huh??

Now if Eric would just get off the stick and formalize this relationship.
