Fall 2015

Most of this fall was occupied with me trying to recover from shoulder surgery.  Fortunately it was my left shoulder since I'm right handed but it did limit much of what I could do.  Still, we were able to do some things.  This blog is an effort to catch up on some of the activities.

A few weeks before my surgery Mona's daughter, Lucy, was in the area visiting.  She, along with Mona, my grand-daughter Saray and I road the Hiawatha Trail on the Idaho, Montana border.   Saray has a real love affair with Lucy.

Another event before the surgery was my neighbor, Doug, coming over with his assistant and expanded my front yard by about 5 feet.  It was something that really needed to be done as the ground was slipping away to the point where the corner of the deck was loosing it's support.  I had to jack it up on that corner last year as a temporary fix.  This spring I'll finish the landscaping.

Doug did the work now, rather than wait until sping, because he had access to this excavator he was repairing.  It made short work of getting the fill material we needed from the land behind the house.  All went well except the excavator slipped a tack.  Those things are not easy to get back on, especially when the machine in on a slope.  It sure made the job a lot easier even with replacing the track.

Shortly after my surgery, Mona and her "Ex" had their retirement parties.  Mona's two kids, Max and Lucy flew in from New York and Los Angeles respectively for the big events, which they held on two consecutive days so the kids could attend both.  I was impressed with how both retirees were so well respected by those in attendance.

One of Max's closest friends, Taran, is a commercial fisherman on Bristol Bay in Alaska.  He was one of the stars on the reality show "Battle on the Bay".   Google it, it is a fun watch.   Taran and his girlfriend, Kara, have been selling some of they're catch at the local farmer's markets and in one of the local supermarket chains.  That's Diana, Max's girlfriend, in the background.

Another picture of their stand.  That's Kara on the left talking to a customer.  Thunder is the name of Taran's boat.

After I got out of my sling we were able to do some hiking.  It has been nice to be able to get out on the trails.  This is Revett Lake near Thompson Pass on the Idaho-Montana border.

I moved here to be near the grandkids.  On of the things we do each fall is get pumpkins at a local farm.  Their corn fields makes for some great photos.

Now you must admit, these kids are the cutest things ever.

What a hoot we had this fall!  Raif started playing flag football.  He's quite a fast kid and scored several times this season on an end around play.  I don't know if I had more fun though watching him or his dad!

Here's my three girls.  Christine came over for a weekend and was able to watch one of Raif's games.

That's enough for now.  A reminder to check out Mona and my other blog for info on our summer in Alaska.  It's called "M and M in M" and can be found at:  www.monamark.blogspot.com
