2014 Christmas Letter

Here are a few highlights of the Avakian family for 2014.

I delayed my winter trip south until spring since some of the the family was gathering in Moab, UT over spring break. After visiting with my brother  in Palm Springs I explored some of the areas in the Desert Southwest (for details please visit my blog www.knotaklu.blogspot.com).  From there I went to Moab. We all were there except for Eric and Angela who couldn't get of f work.  Also Stan's sister and her family were there so we had quite a large group.

Saray really got into bicycling the trails.  Here she is leading the way with Aunt Christine.  Celine, on the other hand, really didn't like the whole idea of camping.  It got pretty cold most nights which meant she was really unhappy!!!!

My kids have always liked mud!  When they were little it was rolling in mud in the creek or back yard.  Now it is mountain biking.  An they are passing their love of playing in the mud the grandchildren!

Several times in the past I road the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Ride, a two day, two hundred mile ride.  The girls and some friends this year road a 100 mile ride in one day in and around the Pasco area.  I rode the last 35 miles with them and they put me to shame.   I could barely keep up.   I was quite proud of them.

Half the family lives in the Seattle area and half in North Idaho but that doesn't stop us from having the annual egg toss at Easter.  Pictures are taken and manipulated to ensure that those in the west know that the east side team has won again.

If you haven't figured it out by now, the reason I'm living in North Idaho is the grandchildren.  Well, Michele, Stan, Teresa and John have something to do with it too.

And another reason now is that I've met this wonderful lady, Mona.  To say we have hit it off, well, would be an understatement.

We have had several adventures together including a trip to Yachats, OR, Glacier NP and a sailing trip around the Greek Islands on her friend's sailboat.  Again, more details are on the blog so I won't bore you with them now.

Please check out my blog: www.knotaklu.blogspot.com.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and please stop by if you're ever passing by Rose Lake on I-90.  I'm just 2 miles from the freeway.

Happy Holidays
Mark
