Bicycling Anchorage

Anchorage has a really nice bicycle trail that wraps around the city along it's waterfront.  Along the trail, very once in a while, will be a sign saying to watch for and yeild to wildlife.

Honestly, it's a little easier said than done.  This mama moose and her babies were right next to the trail on the inside of a corner.  As your rounding the corner, all of a sudden they are there.  The interesting thing was, she didn't seem to mind at all the bicyclist flying by.  I couldn't resist stopping down the trail in a clearing an getting these pictures as she eat her way along.

Next to the clearing was a pond.  Mama moose went in for a swim, but the babies would have none of it.

Then, on the other side of the pond, a bull moose appeared.  Mama didn't seem to mind since the babies were on the other side.  The bull however watched and kept his distance.

Then he went back to grazing.

Nice pictures! Better than a moose collision!
