Christmas Model Trains

I've always been a fan of model trains. In my youth I had this great train set. It was set up on an 4x8 foot plywood board. It wasn't exactly huge, and, now that I think back on it, not especially great either. But considering my parents financial situation, it was big and a wonderful thing for a boy. So a few years ago I thought it would be fun to get a Christmas train set to put under the tree.

I was sure the grand daughter, Saray, would like it. And it has lived up to expectations..... sort of. Saray does loves it. Therein lies the problem. The set is a small, narrow gauge track HO train, like the ones of my youth, except I was much older than Saray when I got it. It turns out that my new little train just isn't working out too well. Saray gets frustrated because she can't get it back onto the track and I'm constantly worrying that something is going to break.

What's the solution?

Get another train set of course. Hey, It's me, the gadget nut, and, a guy, who used to play with trains. Duh, what did you expect?

Here's the new train set. The cars stay together, it's remote controlled, easy to put the train back on the track, has a bridge, train station, lights, trees, signs, plays tunes, etc, etc. What more could a guy, I mean grandchild, ask for?

Well, the grandfather in me could ask for a few less batteries. This thing take 15!! That's right, 15! Duracell must really like these sets. I'm sure glad there's a Costco in the area. I've had fun putting it together and “testing” it.

Hopefully Saray and Raif will like it too.
