ATV'n in Northern Idaho

I've come to believe that everyone's second car here in Northern Idaho is an ATV. At least all my neighbors have them. My closest neighbor and I use ours in the winter to keep the road to our house clear of snow. The last few weeks though I've been doing some exploring with mine. This area is covered with logging roads and an ATV is a great way to get around on them. Combine that with Geocaching and it makes for some fun adventures.

This is Blossom Peak. There used to be a Lookout Tower here, now long gone. Many of the Mountain Tops in the area had lookouts. Most of the more scenic ones now have Geocaches with just adds to the fun.

Little Guard Peak still has it's lookout. In fact the Forest Service rents it out. This one is very popular. I looked at reservation website and it is booked solid for the entire season except for two widely spaced nights.

Porcupine Pass on the boarder between Idaho and Montana. The is a Huckel Berry pickers paradise. I haven't seen so many bushes in one spot before.

My favorite, Shefoot Peak. You can see this peak from the Hiawatha Bicycle Trail. In fact I've hike the valley between the trail and this peak, also because of a geocache. That is one thing I really like about geocaching. not only does it combine some of my favorite interests (gadgets, maps, hiking, exploring) but it has lead me to some of the most interesting areas I never would have gone too if there wasn't a geocache there.
